By Ferry & Car
The travel time from Vancouver airport to Egmont by car and boat is between 4.5 and 6 hours, depending on your ferry connection. The journey from the airport to Horseshoe Bay takes you through downtown Vancouver, so traffic can slow you down. Here are directions and a map.
For ferry reservations between Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) and Langdale, click here. You will want to make return reservations to avoid long summer ferry waits in advance.
The drive up the Sunshine Coast is about 2 hours and is scenic. Here is a list of places to see / stop along the way.
If you are taking time to explore Vancouver Island before the wedding, you can ride ferries from Comox to Powell River and then to Earl's Cove.
By Float Plane
Friday
2pm - leave downtown Vancouver seaplane terminal. It takes 30 minutes by SkyTrain to go from Vancouver airport station to downtown, and then a 15 minute walk (directions here), and if you have time, you can check out Vancouver and have a good bite to eat.
Sunday
10am - leave the Lodge direct to Vancouver airport south terminal. Arrive around 10:45am and shuttle to main terminal (15 minutes). Allow extra time before flying (suggested 2 hours) for clearing customs (U.S.), security, etc.
Vancouver
Vancouver Airport is now serviced by a direct link to downtown called the Canada Line. It takes about 35 minutes and can drop you very close to the downtown Float Plane terminal. (It may make more sense to send the charter from downtown because of staggered arrivals at the airport.)
If you will be staying in Vancouver, there are many options.
- L'Hermitage or Loden for well-reviewed boutique hotels downtown.
- The Fairmont if you'd like luxury right next to the float plane terminal.
- The Sylvia if you'd like to be on English Bay.
- The usual less expensive chains.
- We also know of a great 1 bedroom condo in Kitsilano if you'd like to stay longer.
